To provide Office Staff, Family members and Child Carers with the knowledge and skills so that they can be better prepared upon encountering an accident or other emergency at home or in the Office environment. On completion of this course, participants will be able to demonstrate a competence in the theory and practice of the following:

Have an appreciation of the basic body structure and its functions

• Make an assessment of the Priorities in an Emergency

• Have an understanding of immediate measures to be taken in cases of emergencies including the ability to:

• Position the casualty

• Apply resuscitation techniques

• Control bleeding

• Shock management

• Bruns management

• Emergency move

• Use contents of a first aid kit

• Knowledge of basic fracture immobilisation techniques

1. Basic House Hold Accident Prevention

2. Basic House Hold Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Emergency Escape

 

COMPETENCY

To be awarded a certificate in House Hold Emergency Management in accordance with the requirements of this course participants must;

 

• Demonstrate the correct techniques and procedures on a mannequin or person of the following skills

• How to safely approach a victim

• Conduct a primary survey

• Control bleeding

• Treat burns

• Improvise splints

• Use contents of a first aid kit

• How to safely transport a victim

• Conduct a primary survey

•
