To provide seafarers with the knowledge and skills needed to maintain a safe working environment while successfully relating and responding to others (both at work and elsewhere) in a socially responsible manner. On completion of this activity, participants will be able to demonstrate a competence in the theory and practice of the following:

 

•  Compliance with emergency procedures

•  Safe working practices

•  Safety and protective devices available to protect against potential hazards aboard ship

•  A familiarisation with international measures concerning accident prevention and occupational health

•  Means to effective human relationships on board ship

•  Precautions to prevent pollution of the marine environment

  Importance of adhering to safe working practices at all times

•  Precautions to be taken prior to entering enclosed spaces

•  An understanding of orders and be understood in relation to shipboard duties

•  Importance of maintaining good human relationships aboard ship

There are no course prerequisites
