To provide seafarers with the knowledge and skills needed to maintain a safe working environment while successfully relating and responding to others (both at work and elsewhere) in a socially responsible manner. On completion of this activity, participants will be able to demonstrate a competence in the theory and practice of the following:
Compliance with emergency procedures Safe working practices Safety and protective devices available to protect against potential hazards aboard ship A familiarisation with international measures concerning accident prevention and occupational health Means to effective human relationships on board ship |
Precautions to prevent pollution of the marine environment Importance of adhering to safe working practices at all times Precautions to be taken prior to entering enclosed spaces An understanding of orders and be understood in relation to shipboard duties Importance of maintaining good human relationships aboard ship |
